Q: What has been your greatest accomplishment to date and why?

Where do I begin.... I had completed my first novel. I'd been working on this project for about 10 months and it was a very difficult time for me. I wasn't going to mention it, but I have a few health issues that prevent me from doing certain things..but God! To finally finish this book was wonderful - His words to me were enough. I am experiencing so many different emotions right now from wanting to cry from day to day to wanting to run like Forrest Gump. Every thing I've done thus far; owning my own magazine, my family and now this book - is so much of me and where I am. During the writing process I went through a lot, not knowing which way this book was going to go, I had to go to God in regards to what I needed to do. I waited and waited, and thought to myself, forget it.. but who am I kidding? And then He spoke to me "the book you are writing will be written, but just not the way you're trying to do it". So here I am today a novelist that is about to take the literary world by storm.

BEHIND THE ACTION..

Debra Martin Chase is a Hollywood producer and former lawyer who was named by Savoy magazine in August 2003 as one of the 100 most influential African Americans in the United States and by Black Enterprise in 2007as one of the Top 50 Powerbokers in Hollywood. Debra is the first African American female producer to have a solo producing deal at a major studio as well as being a two-time Emmy nominated television and film producer. 

There are a small number of Black female producers in Hollywood who have been able to stay relevant and profitable; Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Tracey Edmonds, Queen Latifah and then there’s Debra Martin Chase. Her name may not register with the general public the same way as the aforementioned women, but her credits speak for their self: Cheetah Girls, Cinderella, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, 1 and 2, Princess Diaries, 1 and 2 and most recently, Just Wright. Some may consider her work “chick flicks,” but Martin Chase makes movies for a living and the living is good.

Rosie Pope's announcement that she had a baby on Mother's Day is a made-for-reality-TV birth story. Life & Style Magazine reports that the star of Bravo's 'Pregnant in Heels,' a show about her pregnancy concierge services, went into the hospital on Sunday May 13 to be induced and proceeded to live-tweet how many centimeters dilated she was, what her contractions felt like and more. She even asked followers for baby girl name suggestions and eventually settled on Vivienne Madison.

Pope's first tweet, early Sunday morning, was an announcement that this would be the day she would meet her baby girl (the star already has two boys). She kept Twitter followers updated on how she was feeling as her contractions got closer together, and then, at 10:29 AM:

Pope didn't put down her smartphone until she was nine centimeters. Then, husband Daron, took over. (Scroll down for a timeline of Pope's delivery in tweets.) According to US Magazine, Pope gave birth to a healthy baby girl who weighed 7 lbs. and 9 oz at at 12:40 PM. "We are all doing well and so in love with her, as are her older brothers and our extended family," she told Life & Style. The new mom has already taken back the reigns of her Twitter feed, sending out multiple "thanks yous" to all her fans' well wishes.

“The Queen of Disco”, and most beautiful Donna Summer has died following a battle with cancer. She was 63 years old. A native of Boston, Donna began her career as a backup singer, most notably for Three Dog Night in the early 1970s. She eventually caught the attention of Casablanca Records and within a year her single “Love to Love You Baby” hit #2 on the Billboard singles chart. The latter half of the 1970s saw Donna dominated the charts with three consecutive number one albums, and four number one singles within a 13-month period. Her most notable singles included “I Feel Love”, “Hot Stuff”, “Bad Girls”, and her version of the Richard Harris ballad “MacArthur Park”.

Ways to Look Younger Tomorrow

Seaweed Detox Bath: Take some Nori flakes and place in cheesecloth, tie at the top. Place the pouch in the warm bath water, squeeze and rub the pouch in targeted areas.

Sleep: Get at least eight hours of sleep. Try to go to bed before 10 p.m. Tip: Listen to calming music for 45 minutes before bedtime. (A study showed that music helped elderly folks sleep longer and feel less tired the next day. This may be because music decreases a key stress hormone in the body.)

De-puff: Cut back on white flour and sugar for 24 hours. Refined carbs cause your body to retain water, making your face “puffy” OR Throw on another pillow. Fifteen minutes before rising from bed in the morning, place an extra pillow under your head. This will help de-puff your eyes.

Frownies: These little tape devices work miracles without needles and have been around for a hundred years. Wear them at night or for at least four hours and you will see results. Warning: Your husband may think you look like a mummy.

Positive attitude: Various researches have shown that optimism increases good health. Start with positive self-talk:“I can handle this”. Try to avoid criticizing yourself! Detox for a day and drink tea! rooibos (red tea) . This South African tea has collagen-building copper, as well as vitamin C and other antioxidants.

Cut down on salt: Salt makes you retain water. Avoid fast foods and switch to Spice Hunters, my favorite spices. My mom is now also a believer in these tasty salt-free spices. (Those with high blood pressure should only have 250mg a day; the average person, 3,000mg or less. If you are active and sweat a lot, you may need more.)

Plump away your wrinkles: Drink eight to ten glasses of water with lemon a day. Your skin will be more hydrated and the appearance of wrinkles less pronounced, while lemon helps with digestion. (Tip, squeeze some lemon on a cotton ball, and pat around eye, this helps to exfoliate as well—be careful of eye area).

Avoid sugar: It dries out your skin and promotes wrinkles.

Whiten your teeth: Try whitening strips while reading a book before you doze off.

Pray: Thank God for everything before bed and before you get up. Be grateful..
